Memorial day weekend

the weather was very temperamental, changing from monsoon-like rain storms on Saturday and Sunday to sunny and 90's (32c) on Monday. that didn't stop us from having fun!

Ella got together with her long lost friend Lake Michigan. still too cold to go in though, even on a nice sunny day.

Monday morning at the zoo: seems like lots of people thought it was a good idea to go to the zoo, luckily we got there very early and left just as it was getting really warm.

[those geese were really annoying, kept coming to see if we had any food for them.]

[you can imagine what kind of a mess this popsicle ended up being on a 90 degree day in the car. that's the reason kids should only eat them at the beach near a large body of water]


After a long nap on monday, I took Ella to the beach to throw more rocks:

She then saw a boat approaching the peer, so we ventured up there, and followed the boats that were going back into the harbor of the local Yacht Club.
after spending some time just looking Ella said very nicely that she wants a boat.
"אלה רוצה סירה פליז"
i felt so sad for her, because she really DID ask very nicely! and up until now we were sort of able to give her stuff she wanted (like a ride on the zoo bus, or a little more milk). this time i had to explain that a. we don't have a boat; b. these boats aren't ours and we can't go on them; and c. grandpa has a boat, maybe he'll take you sailing this summer!

very maturely she eventually said bye bye to the boats and we went back home.
