bye bye chicago!

we're flying to israel in a few hours. i'm completely overwhelmed by packing for the three of us... and can't wait to be there!
we're flying overnight, so hopefully Ella will be able to sleep on the plane. we'll deal with her jetlag later :P

tired imma

Ella woke up twice last night, and then at 5:30(AM) decided that it's time to play even though it's still dark out. i'm so grateful that Ben is a morning person... i would be a walking zombie otherwise. he's the bestest dad and husband.

Hats

it's a little cold here lately, so i crafted two new hats for Ella -- the pink one is a simple cotton hat that she can sleep with. it's light and soft, the fabric is what t-shirts are made of;

the white hat is knitted from Spa yarn. it's super soft and snug. i believe that she'll be able to wear it for a while, it will adjust to her head as it grows.

[hat pattern: with #3 needle; co 120; join, knit in rib pattern (p2,k2) until 2.5 inches; knit in stockinet pattern until 5+3/4 inches; decrease one every 20 st, k the next line, repeat until there are 12 st. close.]

our first ever family dinner. Ella had rice cereal and we had spaghetti bolognese. Scrooge took the picture.

The family in the mirror

every night, right after Ella takes a bath, we say hellow to the family in the mirror.

photo news

there are two new albums online. one is the entire Rosh Hashana photoshoot, here.
the other is yet another Ella album, see link on the right of the blog.

Ella's room

Posted by Picasa

A few weeks ago we bought Ella a new crib, and since then she's sleeping in her room instead of ours.
it's great :) she can stretch her arms, but i think she still misses Grandpa Gary's cradle. can't stay small forever...

in the following picture, notice how ben is reading the instructions and Ella is helping.

cranberries

yeah. i got cranberries at meijer, thinking that they will be delicious, and realized that you're probably not supposed to eat them fresh. i had no idea. i found this recipe for cranberry jam, maybe i can still save them...

... and a couple of pictures from today, taken with ben's phone while the two of them went for a stroll by the lake. as you may be able to see, it's getting colder here.
