the little accomplishments
i spend my days solving the problems of the universe, but it's these earthly accomplishments that make me most proud of myself:
1. i finally scheduled doctor appointments for both of us, so that we have a doctor in case we're ill. that's right, we've lived here for that many years and we still don't have a family doctor...
2. we purchased airline tickets for our visit to israel! an annoying task that we always put off as much as possible.
speaking of flights: this will be the last time we can get away with not buying ella an almost-fully-priced ticket. she will be sitting in our lap. it's going to be a rough flight... if you have any suggestions (preferably from first-hand experience) for traveling with babies/toddlers, please dispense!

My only suggestion is to buy a full priced seat, and take the car seat so she can be strapped in :) We flew with Liam that way, and even though he wasn't two it was well worth the money. Of course, it was only a three hour flight, but we knew it would be easier with him in his carseat.....
The other suggestion would be a portable DVD player and headphones....

bring sandwiches. you won't be able to open the tray to eat. don't worry - its airline food - you aren't missing anything.
when amit was at ella's age, she loved being in the bjorn even when i was sitting. of course, i never sat with her starpped to me for sooooo many hours.
do you guys have mileage that you can spend on upgrading to business? that would be so much more comfortable.
by the way - one of my bosses likes to sedate her kids with sleeping pills before she flies them from israel to colombia to visit family. i think its drastic, but she sais she can't fly with both of them fully alert... when her son was about four, the sedation was woren out, they had already been 6 hours on the plane, and after he ran back and forth enough times, he asked if they could step outside to play, just for a short while - he promised to come right back into the plane afterwards.
We (had to) buy a third seat when traveling from LA-> Seattle (one infant per lap regulations). I should tell you, no one wanted to sit in it. We ended up with everyone in our laps the whole time except for takeoff/landing. Maybe you can lift the armrest and sit her in between the two of you? New toys, coloring books and hopefully friendly surrounding passengers can keep kids entertained for a while. Bring a battery operated fan in case it is too warm on the plane (nicole taught me this). Maybe misplace a couple of her favorite toys for a week or so before the trip. Then bring them with you in your bag and as needed - WOW you found them. The reunion should buy you a good 30 minutes.
