poop

for some reason, Black scrooge prefers to poop in the tub, instead of (or in addition to?) pooping in his own toilet. at first, we thought it was funny, and even considerate, as both of them don't do their mess on any hard-to-clean surfaces (i.e., carpets, beds, couches...), and the bath tub is by far the easiest thing to clean. well, except for the actual toilet bowl (we wish..).
anyway, every day now he destroys the bathroom, and we have to clean after him.

any ideas how to solve this problem?

You can close the bathroom door. I am not sure about the alternative that black-scrooge will choose. as you asid, the bathroom is the easiest to clean after all.

Try placing the poop boul in the bathroom. maybe he will make the effort and poop inside.

and maybe you just need to place some toilet paper next to his poop boul....

I had a cat many years ago who did that regularly (Franklin) I think he was just very very clean and liked the idea that his toilet got scrubbed every day. You might try leaving a half inch of water in the tub at all times--unless he's like Phoebe and really likes to play in the water.

we don't want to close the bathroom door, cause sometimes they like lying under the cabinet in the bathroom, where it's cool and dark. especially during hot days.

when the litter box was IN the tub for a few days, he pooped NEXT TO the litter box.

we put a sheet of paper towel on the bottom of the tub, and he actually pooped ON it once (although he did poop next to it once too).

we didn't have tub poop in a couple of days now, maybe he kicked the habit (crossing fingers), but we did buy another litter box (to be used when w go away for a day and can't clean their big box often) and different flavor of litter, see how that helps. maybe he didn't like the smell of the fancy, 'multiple cats, small spaces, odor locking' litter.
