Sharonim!

yayy! sharonim are in da haus!
i'm writing this at 2AM, i'm just exhausted after a long day out and about - make it two long days. my little brothers are in the livingroom playing tennis on wii, and everybody else is sleeping hard.
we sure have a full house. we're having a lot of fun, i know i'll regret not having documented it all better (i already regret not taking a picture of all of us together in some famous spots in chicago).

we're having a lot of fun and i'm soooo happy to have everybody here!
i hope i can write some about our fun together when i'm less tired.

new toys

Ron brought a package full of goodies from israel: chocolate, granola, bamba, and of course cute clothes and educational toys for Ella. yayy! thanks :)

we've been working on tummy time lately, just a few seconds at a time (trying to not reach her upset point). she seems to like the new toy, and we got her to look at it for a full minute without complaining :D

laughs

Ella and i dance to the sound of the music from Ella's daycare. fun and laughs!!

feet, II

while playing with Ella and the beetle this afternoon, she decided to grab the beetle with her feet instead of with her hands. i think this may be her super power if she ever finds out that she's a superhero. (her super weapon would be drowning her enemies by drooling on them, but that's for another post)

gigantor

out of curiosity, i measured Ella's length - she's 26'' (66 cm) tall! that's 95th percentile for 4-month-old babies. that's fine, only that Ella is 3 months old.
she's a tiny little giant, she is.

daycare, take II

good news! we finally found a daycare center for Ella. we all like the place, and has an opening for her in September. we visited there twice, the kids seem very happy there, and Ella enjoyed watching them all run around and do stuff -- playing, making music, and singing. we liked the teachers too.

i didn't realize how stressed i was by daycare till just now. but it's done, we gave a deposit, and are very happy with our choice.

The couple who run the "school" came by today to see Ella at her home environment, so that they can tailor her activities and napping atmosphere to her specific needs. they gave us a couple of documents, and a CD with their music.
Ella loved them.

this afternoon we played the CD and danced to the music, and Ella was smiling and laughing and squealing! it made me even happier :D my face muscles hurt from smiling so hard for so long.

curry

one of the things we inherited from chris when he left town, is a small jar of red curry paste. motivated by its rather soon expiration date, i decided to make curry for the first time ever. at least one of us eats curry about once a week at restaurants, so needless to say we like it.
went to the store, bought a few vegetables, put everything in the pot and now we're waiting for the rice to be ready.

mmmm! i think it's got potential.

Aug 7th, 2009

Ella was playing with her purple elephant, while i tidied up and did things around the house. getting ready to the Sharonim invasion this week.

later on i gave her a cooking lesson, taught her how to make safta Dalia's brownies. it was a good opportunity to talk about fractions (1+2/3 cups is equal to 5/3 cups!) and counting (one egg, two eggs, three eggs, four eggs!).

thanks grandma!

sorry for not updating in a while. Sandy was visiting for a week, which means that ben and i both got to go to work for full days and actually get stuff done!
thank you so much for coming!!!

i spent the days working, which means that after Ella goes to bed i don't have to feel bad about not working from home. i spent the evenings this past week trying to finish reading Harry Potter #6, so that i remember what it's about when we go to the movie.

i didn't finish the book, but we did go to the movie last night - i had a great time! it seems like we've been going to the movies more now after Ella was born than before. thanks grandmas!!!
i liked the movie a lot, even though they changed stuff relative to the book. some of the editing was good, some necessary to just keep the movie shorter than say a couple of weeks. some was unexpected: they underplayed the role of the half-blood prince though. that was weird, given that that's the name of the movie...
also, it seems like hermione and ron took acting classes during the summer between their 5th and 6th year ;)
