Congratulations. it is about time. even in Israel we have no-smoking law almost 3 months now. AND THEY HADN'T CANCELED IT YET!!!! there is a big protest on the smokers side... but all the pubs and bars are move "breathable" and welcomming. but there they have a way of bypassing the law. they just call themselves "members club", and then they can smoke inside. so, inorder to be a members club, you have to pay taxes for..... the new definition, i guess.

A new law, which you already have in the US, and some places in Europe. we will have to "buy" the plactic bags at "Mayers", one shekel per bag.

Odi thinks that i will stop shopping..... I think of a better solution - going into the grossary store with the car, in Reverse.

hey, maybe they will have a drive-through shopping market, eh??

i don't think the plastic bag thing is a law in the US. we've been getting a lot of those at the store (more than we actually need, now that we have the automatic poop box.) many times they pack your groceries for you, and they put like 2 bags over one bottle of milk or juice. this is very wasteful...

i wish that if they make people pay for bags, they would at least put that money towards biodegradable products like this : http://www.biodegradablestore.com/index.html

actually, i'm very impressed that the no smoking in bars thing took in TA. i was sure they were not going to enforce it at all.. maybe all those people suing restaurants and coffee shops paid off at the end!
my ex-roommate used to send me email reports about his law suit against some place in rechovot. i think he won like 2000 shekels or something.

Hey, congrats. I can't wait to come back and visit again now that Chicago is smoke free.
If you here people complain about it, just tell them that if the Israelies can do it, so can they.

If you go to Ikea in the US they charge yo u a nickel for a plastic bag. Of course they don't tell you this until you're in the checkout line with all the stuff you bought. At least we know now.
I remember the Ikea incident well because it's one of the few times I've seen Keren genuinely angry. If I was Ikea, I would have been scared.

yea, i was angry. but not about having to pay the 5 cents -- i was mad that only after paying for our stuff, and asking for a bag, the cashier said that they each cost 5c. i wasn't going to put 5c on a credit card. that's stupid. so we ended up walking to the car with a bunch of small things in our hands. i WAS going to complain about it, but didn't find an email address i could send my complaint to...

Let me join you with joy, especially now that I've been a non-smoker myself for 5 weeks! Yee!
