Walk on the beach

1) a huge experiment in physics
as the waves hit the concrete wall, they bounce back and interfere with other incoming waves. this creates a huge pattern of wavefronts (that you can barely see in this picture...), with the constructive interference causing a spike in the ridge in the junctions where two wavefronts meet.

2) written in stone
The stone wall is scarred with all sort of love statements, names, faces, drawings, cartoons, and what not. This is my favorite...

Now I'm starting to feel the inner-land anxiety of the Iowans. I want a beach too.

it almost feels like TA. you just have to adjust your brain to the fact that the beach is on the east and not west. and the sub zero temps :) of course, you might be used to that, having spent some time on the east coast...
but at least now you have another good reason to visit us! bring your skates, cause it seems that the lake will be frozen for a while...

i think physicists are the only breed able to look at daily life with such system-sensitive eyes. can you see in infra-red as well? haha...
