A is for Atom, B is for Binary code, and 3(.141593...) is for PI.

I stumbled upon this website when looking for children books. If anyone remembers Dalia's first-ever gallery website, it was based on the very same idea only this one is so much better executed :)
anyway, i thought i would share it with everybody because i think it's a very cute website (look out for the girl on a bike in one of the rooms!) and his illustrations are very nice.

we had lunch with Coffy and Yakini at a little Caribbean restaurant called Calypso Cafe in Hyde Park. we had no idea there was such a cute little place just across the parking lot from the worst McDonald's in the universe. Lunch was pretty good, and the company was wonderful!
Ella immediately fell in love with this multi-legged guy. there were lots of hugs and kisses. Thanks Safta Sarah! 
It was a beautiful day, and the daylight saving hours had us home plenty of time before sunset. so instead of joining Ben on his run, Ella took a walk in the park with me - literally! we spent most of the time walking, and a little of it posing on the new stroller. did i say that i can't wait for it to be spring already?
we had a lot of fun. Ella enjoyed trying out new surfaces to walk on (grass, pavement, leaves) and was super excited about all the doggies in the park (especially one Great Dane). my back was so sore at the end of the day, but totally worth it!

Coffy flew back to chicago on wednesday. we saw Yakini that afternoon - she was all excited, had her hair done and everything! Akin seems very happy too.
we really hoped to see him at music time when we dropped Ella off at school. although the rest of the care-takers did a really good job trying to fill in for him in his absence, it wasn't quite the same. we were a little disappointed when we arrived and he wasn't there, but we completely understand: he spent the first day with his son, and then they decided that for the children's sense of continuity he will not go back to teaching just yet and wait until after the break and after they know that he's there for good.
everybody, keep your fingers crossed... hopefully his parents will fly with someone from PIH to Boston, where his mom will be operated, and then they'll come to Chicago as well. my hope is that Coffy can meet them in Boston and doesn't have to go all the way to Haiti again.
just before picking Ella from school yesterday, we had a little chat with Coffy at his home. he thanked us for all we have done, helping him share his story with the world on the blog and all and was very emotional. i felt very unworthy of all that gratitude. all i really did was punch some keys on my computer, it's not like i traveled around the world to save anyone!
anyway, we're happy to have him back.
